GRAIN MILLING CORRESPONDENCE COURSE The Grain Milling Federation offers a correspondence course to all learner maize and/or wheat millers (currently 150 students per term). Each course comprises of four modules and the duration thereof is six months for each module. We have two terms per year starting in January and July respectively. In order to qualify for the official examinations, which are normally written during May and November each year, a student must obtain a minimum pass mark of 50% for his progress questions. Completed progress questions must be submitted to the Federation during March and September. The student must obtain an overall pass mark of 50% for his examination paper. The questions which are marked as compulsory questions require a minimum pass mark of 50%. Should the student fail the compulsory section and pass the optional section of the examination paper well, he would not have complied with the pass requirements. After the successful completion of a course, the student obtains a national certificate. If the student completes his four modules on either wheat or maize, he can immediately start the other course on module one, should he so wish. Once he has obtained his national certificate, the student qualifies to undergo a trade test. This is arranged via the offices of the Federation. ADVANCED MAIZE AND WHEAT MILLING TECHNOLOGY COURSE The Grain Milling Federation now offers a combined Advanced Milling Technology correspondence course, which includes wheat and maize. This is in addition to the current miller's course. The advanced course is designed for millers who have the potential to become head millers, mill managers and technical managers. The course has therefore been pitched at a somewhat higher level than that of the miller's course. For this reason the Grain Milling Federation has introduced a number of entrance requirements that the applicant must have acquired before he can be accepted on the course. ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS
10% of the registration fees will be forfeited if the student fails the entrance examination. |
