ADMISSION TO MEMBERSHIP

We are a non-profit organisation made up of voluntary members who are actively and directly involved in commercial wheat/maize milling. Our membership ranges from small entrepreneurial operators to blue chip food conglomerates.

MEMBERSHIP (MAIZE AND WHEAT)

§ Non-restrictive voluntary membership

§ Representation based on milling through output

§ Funding determined by members:

- Current levy 58c (+ VAT) per ton of dry maize and/or wheat milled for human consumption

- Greater than 17,5% = 12 votes

- Between 2,5% and 17,5% = 6 votes

- Less than 2,5% = 4 votes collectively

Our membership represents just over 27% of the maize milling market and 40% of the wheat milling market (total 32%).

Members of the Chamber are required to submit information on a monthly basis for compilation into industry statistics. The membership levy is determined from the tonnage information on the monthly statistical returns. The initial subscription is currently R300 (+ VAT) per annum, plus the normal levy as stated above.

The Chamber's next annual general meeting will be held on 11 March 2011.
